An intriguing topic of discussion at hand is whether elementary school students should attend their school for 11 months per year or not. Since people hold different ideas, it may seem true that 11-month mandatory attendance sounds reasonable. However, with a in-depth understanding, it sounds rather doubtful for me. I personally support the idea that elementary school students should not be required to go to school for 11 month every year an account for two following reasons which I am elaborate on; one is that children need a time for doing a lot of great outdoor activities and the other is attending classes is not beneficial for children’s growth. First of all, children needs to get chances to enjoy outdoor activities. This is important because the ultimate goal of education is being a great member of society. People can learn from books but can not do something meaningful with books. For example, I taught a student who was in 4th grade. On vacation, she visited her grandparents and did a volunteering. After she came back, she wrote a diary about her days of vacation. In the diary, she mentioned that the volunteering work was the best experience she had ever gotten. As shown in this example, children can get a lot more out of the real life experience than the life in school. On top of that, just sitting and studying indoors is unhealthy. What I mean is the period of children is essential time to grow-up. Indeed, a recent study conducted by the National Statistic Office is well aligned with this statement. According to the study, over 76% of the participants answered in favor of the idea that children these days are lack of time to exercise. Furthermore, they also reported that the scanty of working out may result in insufficient growth of students. In other words, attending school-which means basically sitting almost every day-is not helpful for children to grow well. Therefore, it is required to provide children with more time to act physically because there is nothing more important than children’s growth. In a nutshell, attending school for 11 months per year takes chances to enjoy the various outdoor activities from children. In addition, taking 11-month courses may be harmful for children’s healthy growth. In this regard, I strongly argue that school should not demand its students to take classes for 11 months every year. |
