Some people say that there are no difference between teenagers and adult. That is not true. There are huge gap between teenagers and adult and we can find it in a way they think or the way they act against other's opinion or saying. I firmly believe that teenagers are much more affected by their peer groups than people from other age group. I will explain my arguments and reasons in further essay.
Other than adult, most of teenagers prioritize friends, which is their peer group than other groups of people, such as teachers or parents. This is because they spend the most time with their friends, in school or academy. As they spend their time with limited number of people, they might think their peer group is the everyone in their own world. For instance, as people get older, they get to know much more people with various characteristic or backgrounds. Through those experiences, adults can be more independent and have their own opinion. However, teenagers do not get to have much chances to meet people and are lack of experience, they can be more easily affected by their peer group.
Secondly, teenagers are able to constantly keep in touch with their friends, thanks to the technology. Through social networks, they share so many things with their peer group, such as their own picture, their mood or even the place they went. The social networks allow their peer group to leave comment about how they feel towards their friend's posts. Teenagers are exposed to other people's opinion too much and when they see any negative comment, they easily get depressed, which is the evidence of how teenagers are affected by their peer group.
To sum up, I believe teenagers are more affected by their peer group, because they are vulnerable to listening negative opinions. When they hear it, they tend to change themselves, so their peer group would love them. However, I strongly believe that teenagers should love themselves, so they are not easily manipulated by others. |
