(1)Sam said, “If there were any trouble at her parents' house, she would come right back.” (Sam didn’t expect any trouble to happen. Sam was imagining a situation that will probably not happen. )
-->(indirect speech)-->
Sam said if there were any trouble at her parents’ house, she would come right back.
(2)Sam said, “If there is any trouble at her parents’ house, she will come right back." (Sam felt there is(vs. was ? considering sequence of tense) a real possibility that trouble can(vs. could ? considering sequence of tense) happen. )
-> (indirect speech) ->
Sam said if there is any trouble at her parents’ house, she would come right back. Or
Sam said if there is any trouble at her parents’ house, she will come right back.
Or
Sam said if there was any trouble at her parent’s house, she would come right back. [Considering sequence of tense]
