▶ Your Answer : The author contends that the reality or truth behind an appealing image is less important than creating an appealing image. Some people might agree with the author because the public sometimes believe and follow a created image without further scrutiny. The following essay, however, will argue that it is plausible to disagree with the author’s claim and present the following reason to support this point of view. Admittedly, the author’s assertion that people tend to overlook the importance of the truth or reality in contemporary society might hold true in certain degree. This is largely because it is easy to grab people’s attention with an attractive image even the image is affected. For example, politics campaign is one of these examples. Candidates are in competition to earn the most votes and they try to make better image enabling people to think that the candidate will be an ethical and effective leader after he is elected. One candidate who has the most appealing image is more likely to be elected with considerable expectation and adore of the public. Likewise, in the field of marketing, consumers can rarely distinct quality of numerous brand products. Consumers will choose the product based on images created by exaggerated advertisements. Thus, people have tend to focus on creating a better image because of the effective outcome of it. Nevertheless, our logical thinking allows us to believe that the author’s argument may not always be guaranteed. People might already be aware of the fiction of an appealing image empirically. There have been a number of cases which reveals that the reality was totally different from the first appealing image. For instance, Rupert Murdoch had achieved fame as a successful businessman before the phone-hacking scandal was revealed. The scandal shocked many people who believe him as a just famous rich person. One more example of revealing the reality of affected images is Watergate. Who knows such immoral behavior could be done by the Present of a country? All citizens and even people around the world were shocked by the revealed immoral truth of the Present. As a result, people in nowadays might not believe an exaggerated image in full and might think an image is less important than before they experienced such cases above. In sum, while the author’s point of view might hold true under certain conditions, in light of above counter point the author’s claim cannot be agreed in full.
