1. 결혼관련
My wedding ceremony is blurred in memory because it was 10 years ago.
However, I remember that I was so unsatisfied with a time limit and a huge cloud of people.
I think it's import!ant thing in my life, but it was over just in an hour and even I couldn't afford to feel something special about my wedding.
Moreover, I was going to have a romantic wedding party out next to a pond nearby, but heavy rainfalls forced me to stay inside.
If I had my wedding ceremony again, I would like to carry it out over a half day at least and invite only my close relatives.
기타표현
The hall of wedding ceremony is usually booked every an hour. It's terrible.
I was married earlier than average.
I used to advise my sister against marrying quickly.
Sometimes being married has more pitfalls than people realize.
We also usually wear a wedding dress and a tuxedo, but merely one generation ago most couples wore our traditional dress, a kind of Han-bok.
Have you heard the word '당의‘ or '사모관대’? They are our traditional dress for wedding ceremony. '당의‘ for a woman, '사모관대’ for a man. Actually, '당의‘ is the formal dress for a royal princess and '사모관대’ is the formal dress for an official in the Cho-sun empire.
2. 3일 휴가가 주어진다면?
I would like to spend my 3-day-vacation on idling in Sal-dun cottage.
Although I love to travel abroad, only three days is not enough to go abroad.
Sal-dun cottage is in 홍천, 강원 province and I had been there once last May.
As soon as I saw that wooden house with a beautiful attic, I immediately knew I would love there.
In the attic I could see a restful vista in all directions. An natural stream, small mountains, a few rice field between farmhouses... that sort of thing.
Last time I read books all day long and unconsciously took a nap there. I felt so relax that I made up my mind to be there as often as I can.
These days I am in a annoy of my daily work so I want to go there and enjoy myself snatched from busy life.
기타표현
It takes about 2 hours from seoul to 살둔 cottage by car. I'm not sure whether public transport serves or not.
I think the lack of direct public transport is a major disadvantage, but due to that there are always few people and so quiet.
살둔 cottage is an Utopia for urbane tired people.
3. 인상 깊게 읽은 책 - the autography of Scott Nearing
Let's see....
The most impressive book for me is the autography of Scott Nearing.
I became aware of intrinsic qualities of lives by virtue of this book.
This helped me to realize what is essential in my life, how trivial it is the thing that I'm concerned about.
He criticized Capitalism, moved into the countryside of the Maine with his wife and had lived there by self-sufficiency till his death for almost 60 years. They even built their house by themselves.
I heard a number of followers still visit their house so as to learn their lesson.
The myriad demerits of our material civilization reminds me of them.
I think their life style might be the solution to many social problems.
In addition, I was keen on his style of writing as well as his life. Once reading the book, I couldn't put it down.
기타표현
A few years ago my friend presented me with one of books of Helen Nearing, who's a Scott Nearing's wife.
While I read her book, I wondered what he is like so I dropped by a book store and bought it.
4. 아들이 뭐가 됐으면 좋겠냐?
I want him to be a photographer who takes a picture of nature.
A few years ago I accidently read the magazine named National Geography, I was fascinated by the fabulous pictures of it.
Furthermore, I suppose there are less limits on the time and space.
He might have many chance to travel.
In my case, because I have to work in the same office and do the similar things every day, I often feel oppressed as well as bored.
I hope that he won't feel (in) that way.
Of course, the most import!ant thing is who he want to be.
5. 기억에 남는 여행
It's my 보라카이 trip. It was exciting and thrilling.
The highlight was that I almost missed the flight to Seoul.
Seven years ago I and my husband had been at 보라카이 island in the Philippines for just a couple of days.
As you know, in South Asia summer is a low demand season due to its rainy weather. But I preferred it because there are few people. Even I didn't need to reserve a hotel room. Everything went well till last day.
On our departure day the weather was suddenly worse and all flights were cancelled to and from 마닐라.
According to my original schedule, I would spend my last night of trip in a luxury hotel in 마닐라. But we, my family and several other travelers, had to stay at a doss house next to the domestic airport in 보라카이.
It was funny experiences for me to spend the time together with travelers from all over the world accidentally.
Now I'm still thrilled to think that I only catched the flight by five minutes.
The only thing that I did was to book a seat on the international plane.
Just passed by and if it suited my fancy then went into that accommodation. It was more than enough.
6. 기억에 남는 선물
A couple of months ago my son presented a second-hand 티셔츠 to me.
He bought it in the market of his after school class by the money that he earned by selling his toys.
I was deeply impressed by it.
7. 기억나는 사고
When I was a senior in university, I was hit by a motorcycle while walking across the street.
There were a large number of buses were stuck in a traffic jam ; suddenly he sprang out of them. Although the traffic light was green, he couldn't be aware of it because he was a drunk.
Fortunately, I got a slight injury. But he insisted that it be my fault, I had no choice but to call the police.
8. 기억에 남는 날
It was the presidential election day two and a half years ago.
At that time, as you know, Mr. 노무현 was elected as the 16th president in Korea.
I really wanted him to be our president ; until on the eve of the election it seemed to turn into reality.
However, at 10 PM on the eve of the election Mr. 정몽준 , who had been one of the potent candidates and had stood down reluctantly after a survey of public opinion, announced to retract his support for Mr. 노.
I think what he did was mean and underhand.
I spent all night twisting and turning.
Eventually, when I knew he was elected, I was so joyful that even I thought I could dance. Frankly speaking, I'm absolutely a bad dancer.
9. 나에게 스트레스를 주는 것...
The thing makes me suffer from stress the most is the fact that I'm a working mother.
I have my hands full with my work and kid all day long.
To make matters worse, I have lots of household chores.
It's unfair. I always insist that fathers should do more.
Every working mom gets into a similar embarrassing situation in Korea.
In my opinion it is basically due to the male-dominated culture in Korea (masculine notions) though it is being faded away.
Unlike my mother and her generations, I and my generations refuse unquestioning patience.
In my case I hit / take the road on a sudden as an outlet for stress.
10. Living Place
11. 가장 행운인 사람
I think the most blessing / fortunate person is the one who has an occupation to her interest / taste.
In a modern life most of stressful things might be related to our job.
Therefore, if I do things that I like to do, I must suffer from little stress. Moreover, I must reach a higher achievement.
너의 일의 어떤 면이 스트레스를 주느냐
monotonous chores, a discord between divisions
