Q)
Do you live in an apartment or a house?
A)
I live in an apartment with my family. There are 4 people in my family, my
wife, two daughters and me. I have been lived there since I got married. It
consists of three rooms, one den, and two bathrooms.
Q)
What do you like about your house or apartment?
A)
Well, first of all, thanks to a lake-park near my apartment, I can go for a
stroll in the park every morning. It helps me keep in shape. Second, it is not
only well-lit but it also has a great heating and cooling system. So, it’s warm
in the winter and cool in the summer.
Q)
What do you not like about your house or apartment?
A)
I’m content with nearly everything about my apartment, except for my downstairs
neighbor. He has smoked in his house. Second-smoke is very harmful to my
children. So, I plan to move to other areas.
Q)
What room in your house or apartment do you prefer most?
A)
I like kitchen the most because I love to make dishes for my family. Moreover,
I feel happy when they eat my dishes well. The dish I’m proud of is kimchi
stew.
Q)
What can you see from the window of your house or apartment?
A)
I can see a lake-park from my window. Since there are many ducks and birds and
animals, every morning their sounds make me wake up well. Also, a blaze of
lights in the lake-park make me comfortable in the night.
Q)
How long have you been living there?
A)
I’ve been living there for 3 years now. I moved to my apartment after getting
married. While living here, my two daughters were born and I became a father. I
guess my family will move to Canada almost 2 years later.
Q)
Will you keep living there in the future?
A)
To be honest, I’ll be moving to another area. I prepare immigration into Canada
now, so I’ll be moving to there almost 2 years later. And then, I will find an
apartment near my college.
Q)
Do you want to live near your family when you get your own house?
A)
Yes, I’d love to. Even after I get my own house, I want to stay near my family
if I can. One of the best memories is that spending time with my family. So, I
hope to see each other frequently.

Q)
Describe an important building in your town.
1) Where the building is located
2) What it looks like
3) When you visited it
4) Explain why this building is important
A)
There are many important buildings in our town, but the Odusan unification
observatory comes to mind first. It is located in Paju, overlooking Imjin
River. Also, Imjingak is nearby and it takes about 10 minutes by car from
Odusan unification observatory. As the name implies, the Odusan unification
observatory is located Odu mountain. It also seems like a shell and consists of
whole glass. Due to its appearance, it’s sometimes called the “Shell
Observatory” as well. The last time I visited the building was about 3 days
ago. I often to go there with my family at least once a month. However, if
weather’s good, I visit there once a week because I can observe many North
Korean through a telescope. Therefore, this building is one of the most
important to observe North Korea in my area.

Q)
What are the differences between modern buildings and traditional buildings?
A)
There are significant differences between modern and traditional buildings.
First of all, their construction materials are very different. In the past,
building were mostly built with natural materials like wood or soil. However,
modern buildings are constructed with stronger, man-made materials, such as
concrete and steel. Another difference between modern and traditional buildings
is height. Nowadays, buildings are constructed to be taller than ever. You can
see many more high-rise skyscrapers today than in the past.
Q)
Does a region’s climate affect the way buildings are constructed?
A)
Yes, it does influence the area’s building. For example, if you are in a cold
climate then you might find double insulation on the windows. Also, the houses
will be built to retain heat as much as possible. In contrast, if the climate is
hot, then the builders will construct the buildings to say as cool as possible.
It’s quite common to see a house with a
bunch of open porches and verandas in
there.

Q) Describe your ideal future home.
1) What this house would look like
2) Where this house would be
3) Who you want to live with
4) Explain why you want to have this house
A) My ideal future home would have to
be very big because I’ve wanted to live in a large home with my family, my
parents and parents in law ever since I got married. It would have big windows,
too. That would let in tons of natural light and fresh air and help me to wake
up in the morning. Also, I want to have a big backyard, so I could have a
barbeque party. Lastly, a large and cozy living room would be a must for my
whole family. I don’t care about the location, as long as it’s near the beach
but Vancouver and Miami would be great. As I mentioned earlier, I want my whole
family including my parents and parents-in-law to live there with me. Since I
got married, living with my extended family has been my dream and living in
this house would make my dream come true.
# Part 3.
Q) Do people prefer living in
apartments or houses in your country? why?
A) I think people in my country
generally prefer to live in apartments. This is because apartment buildings
usually have better security and convenient. For instance, there are many CCTV
cameras and security guards. Furthermore, modern apartment buildings are mostly
equipped with various amenities, such as pools, gyms, and convenience stores. For
these reasons, many Korean people would like to live in apartments.
Q) Some people prefer living in a
small house to living in a big house. Why is that?
A) The specific reasons would be
different from person to person, but I think people prefer smaller homes
because they are far easier to maintain. They require much less time and effort
to clean. Also, they relatively have lower cost of utilities. This makes them a
much better choice for people who are on a budget.
