Your Answer ▼With an increase in the number of large scale supermarkets
in some countries, it seems that local shops or stores are losing its places. Some
claim that the loss of local business will lead to the death of local
societies. However, I do not agree with the belief.
Undeniably, there are some inevitable damages to the locals as
massive sized supermarkets are conquering small local businesses. With great
benefits of supermarkets such as well-organized, better customer services and adequate
goods, most people will be attracted to going there instead of choosing
undeveloped local shops and stores that provide lower quality of services or
goods. Scottsdale, Tasmania, for example, there have been some local stores
closing their businesses since a few large supermarkets have stolen all the
customers. Therefore, it is understandable that people worry about losing local
businesses by having larger and better shopping malls.
Nevertheless, I personally believe that this sight will result
no consequences in death of local communities. This is because the supermarkets
and the locals could generate a favorable harmony. There will be a number of job
opportunities for locals to get involved as large supermarkets require a
certain amount of employees. For instance, IGA in Scottsdale are being running run by all the local workers. Having well-developed services and businesses in
towns, the standard of the residents’ life will be higher than before, being
able to get a lot more products coming from out of the town. These results
would enable the economic activities of local communities to be more active by
having more number of hired locals and involving bigger business into towns.
In conclusion, due to the loss of local businesses, people
are concerned to see their societies getting smaller and eventually removed.
However, in my opinion, I do think that it is supermarkets in local communities
that could cause favorable advantages for the locals. |
