It can be a debatable issue whether every company has to pursue not only economical profits but also social responsibilities. Some people might insist that private companies do not have to consider social problems but they just exist for making more and more money. However, I am firmly of the opinion that the businesses also have social responsibilities. There are two main reasons. One is that the business ethic is one of the significant factors of companies nowadays. The other is that it contributes to a general positive social atmosphere.
To begin with, the business ethic is considered as a crucial qualification these days. In other words, although most of companies have a positive ethical mind and honesty, some other counterparts sell harmful products just in order to make an enormous amount of money. To illustrate my point, it is not difficult to meet a number of news about fraud companies that sale dishonesty and the mass media treats them as a severe social issue. Recently, one company replaces meat cans with expired meat. This is because the business just think the companies' profits and ignored the social responsibilities. It may be harmful in all of the society and should be considered carefully.
Next, performances of a positive social responsibility of companies affacts on the whole society atmosphere. In fact, when a large company that aware of donate for the socially poor or do volunteer works at certain environment, numerous people in our society could have positive effects. For example, as the Facebook CEO donated to Children's hospital in California in the United States a few years ago, individuals applaud for his warm-hearted activity and imitated the kind behavior. Thus, such a performance that cares of social responsibility enables social atmosphere to make in a positive way.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that the company should consider social responsibility in a positive way, not just pursuing the profits. This is not only not only because negative understandings of social responsibility may lead to contribution to harmful products for society in the company but also because it could cause positive influences on the whole society as well. |
