Serious crimes by youngers have become a social problem and some people
believe the young lawbreakers should be punished like other adult ones.
Personally, I do not agree with this perspective.
The salient factor that people should consider is that the youth is
still immature, so many of them do not have proper moral values. It is true
that the young generation tends to imitate their peer group even their friends
do wrong behaviours. Additionally, some young people do not have a good bond
with their parents who can lead them to a proper future, thereby committing
crimes even they do not understand exactly what they do and what result they will
get. Moreover, most young criminals who have grown up in deprived environments
are poor or do not have parents, thus they did not have enough chance to foster
suitable opinions about committing crimes.
Another significant part is that many young people have had severe
pressure in their daily life. It cannot be denied that almost of youngers
should study hard to make a big success in their education and many children
have had difficulties in school life. With these situations that they cannot
control by themselves, young children are likely to give up the ordinary living
condition while committing crimes to escape their uncontrolled problems. That
is the reason why many experts rather suggest some targeted measures such as
reinforced moral education, upgrading education levels or teaching practical
skills to help them adapt the society better.
In conclusion, I suppose that the young generation is not mature to make
the right decision and they have been getting severe pressure because of the
study and relationship with others. Therefore, they should not be punished like
other adult criminals, but propose more proper measures. |
