Many people these days debate what the advantages and disadvantages are when people give children the message that they can achieve anything when they try their best. However, it is obvious that the advantage is gaining confidence, and the disadvantage is the possibility of being an individualistic adult. In modern society, where put confidence first to appeal individuals, numerous parents tell to their children that they are able to achieve anything. Absolutely, through this encouragement, children will gain confidence and could perform at school brilliantly. For instance, the vast majority of western countries’ parents emphasize this message to their children before they go to school or when they have a meal. Those children who listen that constantly tend to become a leader in the community. Therefore, I can not deny that this is an essential element of parenting. However, the possibility of being an individualistic adult can not be ignored as a tremendous disadvantage. These days, we can easily find a number of egotistic children in households and classrooms. Believing they are extraordinary, some children keep their distance from the community. Those sometimes show impulsive and aggressive traits and only focus on what they desire. On the other hand, eastern students who are generally educated to be humble listen to others actively and know how to respect others relatively well. Hence, I assert that there is a magnitude disadvantage when people deliver the message they can do anything if the children try their best. In conclusion, at first glance, it may seem like there are only advantages in that message, but it is crystal clear that there are disadvantages people should consider. |
