▶ Your Answer :
Some people think that children should
learn a foreign language at primary school. Others support the suggestion that
young people need to learn a foreign language when they become the level of
secondary school. In my opinion, there are more gains than negative points.
The most supportive aspect for this issue
is that the younger children they are the better learners they could be.
Younger kids, from a scientific point of view, seem to regard a new language as
their native language. For this reason, they can be able to learn non-mother tongues
as a natural process rather than as a study. Furthermore, the children who have
exposed to a variety of languages tend to think foreign languages as a tool to
improve their life after they grow up, rather than as something to be shunned.
On the contrary, there are some experts who
approve the thesis that it is difficult for children at primary school to
acquire a foreign language in terms of the level of acquisition. That is,
younger children seem to need to spend a lot more money and time to learn a new
jargon while secondary school ages would be able to learn it considerably
quickly. However, this perspective has a dark side. Many high school students
do not feel a need to learn a new language because they think they have enough
to study. Also, they need to acquire it by a study not by a simple exposure
like the younger children.
To sum up, the advantages surpass the
disadvantages in regards to the opinion that it is better for children to learn
a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary level. This is
greatly due to the way the children learn a new language like a native
language.
