It is widely accepted that the number of young people is decreasing while the old population is rising. However, some people believe that there are only negative effects in this issue. In this essay, I will explore both aspects of merits and demerits of increasing old population in the society.
First of all, there are more likely to get experts from every walk of like in the country having a lot of old people. In other words, they are high-quality human resources and could be one of the most important factor of developing economy. For example, 70 year-old man who has been working for 45 years as a lower has a lot of experiences of dealing with case and would be good at defending his customer. In addition, according to a survey conducted in 2013 for employers, 85% of the respondents answered that one's ability is totally significant than age when they hire someone. Therefore, old people can have still employability and help the society to be growth exponentially.
Conversely, people can see some defects of the problem existing all over the world. For instance, old people in the competitive society like South Korea should make an effort continuously into improving themselves even if they have a serious health problem. The chief reason is that it is hard for them to be protected financially by the government. In Europe, especially the parts of North such as Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland which are the best of welfare, they would experience about giving pension problem as growing old population. Those countries would go bankrupt since elder receiving financial aid do not need to work.
In conclusion, old people could bring the strength which make their career specialized and the weakness that they have to be employed for themselves and their countries. It is important to note that when something happens, it has its advantages and disadvantages. |
