The table illustrates the average
band scores of German, French, Indonesian and Malay candidates in the IELTS
general test last 2010. It shows separate scores for four different sections (Listening,
Reading, Writing and Speaking) together
with the overall scores.
For the Listening section, there was a big difference between Germans
and other groups. German speakers reached the highest grades with a score of
6.8, while the rest of language groups scored less than 6.3. Furthermore, the Reading
section was the weakest part for the three language groups apart from Malay
speakers who got a mark of 6.4.
Moreover,
the result indicated a remarkable contrast in the Writing section between
German and French examinees and Indonesian and Malay test takers. For German
and French speaking groups , a writing part was the second strongest point,
accomplishing the score of 6.6 and 6.5 respectively. However, Indonesian and
Malay speaking students got the lowest grades of 6.1 and 6.0 respectively. In
addition, for a speaking section, all of four language groups had the highest
marks, fulfilling over 6.6.
In conclusion, German speaking test takers
scored the highest overall grade of 6.7, followed by French candidates. On the
other hand, Indonesian candidates on average scored the lowest marks of 6.3
only.
