It is controversial whether traditional cultures and technology could coexist at the same time.Generally speaking, traditional cultures are destroyed in most of countries under the process of modernization. It seems that tradition and development are not able to get together. However,I think that it is available to mix them together in contemporary times for several reasons.
To begin with, development of technology could rebuild and revamp the tarnished traditional treasures. For example, there has been under construction of the Southern Gate in Korea, which is the symbol of the capital boundary in old Seoul from the 14th centuries. It was fired by the criminal accident last year. The rebuilding project was possible due to the computerized technology through the pictures that contain precise features of inside shape of the Gate.Without these new technology,it would not come true to build the Gate into a similar appearance.
Besides, prolonging the lifespan of traditional figures are possible owing to the scientific progress. In Cambodia, there are under progress of amending the holy temple of Ancorwatt through the sophiscated technology.UNESCO,which is international organization aiming to protect the cultural creatures around the world, are participating in this task.
Furthermore, new technology could promote the sustainable developments and modernization. In Paris,France, there are ‘La Defence’,which is the special districts construdted by the newest electric and mechanic technologies, such as automatic maintenance systems in buildins, distinguished security programmes. In fact, this area is surrounded by the traditional streets in Paris, such as L’arc do Triump, tower of Effel. It demonstrates that coexistence of the old and the new is possible.
To sum up,even though, tradition and new technology do not easily exist together,it is possible that getting use of the technology for improving the traditional features and cultural figures into a better shape. In this sense,we could spur these technological knowledge for the improvements of our cultural and traditional assets.
