The pie charts illustrate
changing the percentage of diverse source of energy production from 1970 to
1980. Coal was still the highest rate in that period.
First of all, the
most outstanding figure was the percentage of coal. It accounted for 47% in
1970 and 51% in 1980, which was nearly half of producing energy in all sources.
In 1970, natural gas and hydro had 24% and 16% respectively but these all
figures decreased a bit to 15% and 12%. On the other hand, the case of nuclear increased
rapidly from 1% to 11% between 1970 and 1980, so it was the same as much as
oil. Oil accounted for 12% in 1970, which dropped slightly by 1% to 11% in
1980.
To sum up, US
tend to heavily depend on coal in 1970 and 1980. Besides, the percentage of
nuclear rose dramatically, which was a tenth as much as all energy production. Natural
gas, Hydro and Oil, however, dropped by 9%, 4% and 1%, so dependence to them in
energy production was likely to be seen decreasing. |
