In recent years, some urban planners argue that is is advantageous for their citizens to locate schools, houses, offices and shops in widely and seperated from each other. However, in my opinion, this policy has several drawbacks which everweigh the advantages of it.
To begin with, the benefits of locating these facilities seperately would be convenience of dividing districts and calmness of the residential areas and school zones. Except for these advantages, it seems to be that there is no advantages of this point.
These are several reasons why the drawbacks of this policy overweigh the benefits. First of all, when these areas are sperated widely from each other, it is hard to access to the other areas. For instance, without cars, citizens may have difficulties to move to even buy some groceries, or in order to take their children to school, the parents would have to drive long distance every in the morning. Furthermore, workers may be going to commute to go to their workplace every morning and night.
In addition, managing districs would be hard, too, If it is divided widely. When it comes to way of managing areas, the authourity would have to travel so far to patrol the districs. It is not efficient and effective for both citizens and the authourities since this activity waste money and time.
In conclusion, although planning to locate schools, homes, offices, shops in different zones seperately can bring benefits to give calm and be easy to divide districs cleanly, I firmly beilieve that the drawbacks of this policy overshadow its advantages in terms of accessibility and difficiulty of managing.
