Overall, there was a rise of expenditure on utility bills in the both countries from in 1980 to and 2008. It can be seen that UK residents spent the most for leisure, while Utility bills accounted for the highest proportion of total consumption in New Zealand for both years in each year.
In 1980, the UK consumed 27 percent of total expenditure on leisure, while this figure made up only 18% of household spending in New Zealand. By contrast, the percentage of money spent on food and drink in the UK are 6% higher than that in New Zealand. The figures for utility bills and Transport relatively remained steady.
In 2008, Expenditure of the UK on leisure (34%) was twice as much as that of Newland (17%).
New Zealand had higher household spending of on food and drink and Utility bills compared to the UK, by 12% and 3% respectively.
