In today’s grade-conscious society, lots of students form a study group for themselves to help one another preparing for a test. There are some people who strongly advocate that studying alone is more productive and less distracting. However, I believe that studying in a group is more helpful for young students. On the one hand, studying in a group has some benefits in terms of solving difficult problems together. For example, when I was a student in high school, I often studied with my friends in a library during the test period because we had common interests and goals, which inspired us to study harder. In addition, if I do not know a certain matter, there is always some else for me to clarify it. In this regard, studying in groups has advantages in terms of efficiency. On the other hand, there are also advantages to study alone. According to a survey recently conducted by Korea National Education Center, over about a quarter of students stated that studying in a group could be influenced by members of the group. If there is someone who does not get along with people and they do not become involved in studies frequently, they might prevent other student from concentrating on studying. In conclusion, although some students have studied alone due to time-efficiency, other passionate students have created study groups for their better self-educational environments. I cannot generalize which is better or not, I believe studying in a group is more advantageous than studying alone in terms of doing something together with same purposes from my own experiences. |
