Your Answer ▼ It is a common belief that science and technology need to be prioritized subjects than history in contemporary days. However, I firmly believe that history is still most important in school curriculum because it can teach children how to make wise decisions. On the one hand, many people emphasize the necessity of science and technology subjects because knowledge from them can develop the work in more practical ways. For a few decades, human society could achieve unprecedented material advancement rapidly with the new discovery and invention in science. If students can be familiar with those fields in early ages, the development will become much faster. For example, Bill Gates started to study computer technology when he was a student, and could make new types of software which made people's lives much more convenient. Nevertheless, I support the idea that learning history is still essential for students because they can discern what is right or wrong by learning it. Looking at a series of happenings in world history, children can learn which thoughts improved human society and which threatened it. For example, by learning the disasters caused by atomic bombs technology, students can know the importance of peace and become careful about technological development. To sum up, while it is evident that science and technology subjects can teach students how to change the world in practical ways, it us undeniable that history can teach how to improve world in more appropriate and safer ways. As it means that history can teach how to handle science, the former is more important than the latter. |
