▶ Your Answer :
As our planet has
dramatically globalized, people begin to consider the meaning of local culture
in the age of globalization. In particular, with tourists from other nations
rapidly growing, the matter becomes more important issue. Some people contend
that visitors have to comply with local tradition. On the other hand, others
argue that the sightseeing countries should accept cultural diversity. In this
essay, I will discuss on both standpoints and suggest my opinion on the issue.
Firstly, people
need to think about the uncomfortable feeling of visitors when host nations
require them to follow their traditions. Especially, in the case of people
having opposite cultural customs or from the third-world, they can consider the
attitude to tourists as cultural nationalism and imperialism, which could have
a fatal and detrimental effect on the image and tourism of the country.
Secondly, cultures
have been developed by contact and clash with different cultures. In other
words, receptive attitude to various cultures could provide the host nation
with a strong momentum that can improve their local and national culture. Accordingly,
sightseeing countries need to have acceptive stance to visitors with diverse
cultural characteristics, which can bring a larger amount of income into them
and have a positive effect on their culture.
Furthermore, a specific local custom and lifestyle have to
globalize themselves in cosmopolitan world by actively receiving multifarious
traditions because regionalsim is no longer suitable for the current of the
world. As can be seen in the examples of United Status of America and France,
they have been built on multi-cultural society and it has made them advanced
countries and cultural front-runners.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that the host countries should
have a positive position to a multiple cultures and traditions rather than
pushing tourists to follow their national and local customs, since cultures
cannot progress by themselves alone as we have witnessed in history.
