▶ Your Answer :
The diagrams below give information on how salmons grow in the life
cycle, going through three big stages.
From the birth, salmons live in different environments, being in
different sizes in the entire life. Firstly, after salmon eggs are given births
under small stones and reed in the slowly moving upper river, they stay laid
there for roughly 5 to 6 months. Then, they become what they are called as ‘fries’
in 3 to 8 cm length.
When the salmons are about 4 years old, they live in the fast moving
lower river, and then turn into ‘smolts’ which are 12-15 cm long. Just one year
later, in the open sea, the salmons grow into ‘adult salmons’, which have grown
by approximately 60 cm in length. This growth is much bigger number than the one
from ‘fries’ to ‘smolts’ which took 3.5 years but only brought roughly 9 cm
length in growth.
From the diagrams, it is apparent that salmons keep growing in length,
as time goes by, but in a different speed, depending on the stages. Also, as
they grow, they are called differently. |
