▶ Your Answer :
As people get more and more interested in culture, the number of people
visiting museums drastically grows, too. In this situation, there are some
museums charging visitors, while others are available to the public for free. People
have different views toward this issue, but I strongly believe that museums
should charge visitors.
Some people argues that free admission fee gives equal chances to enjoy
artworks to the public, because anyone is entitled to have access to arts and culture.
Whether they are poor or rich, people can go into museums and appreciate the
works. Also, since spending no money is a big advantage for tourists, it can promote
tourism too. However, in this capitalistic society, if something is free of
charge, people are likely to take it for granted, not realizing its value. Such
dangerous phenomenon would easily happen to the works of great artists, which
we should consider important.
Furthermore, the admission fee will eventually benefit the visitors,
providing exhibitions in better qualities. The money from people will be able
to be used for renovating the works and the museum, and for making the
exhibition environment more pleasant with better lightings, background music
and so on. Then, more visitors are attracted to museums and this would bring
some progress and encouragement in the art industry, in the long run, which
will be beneficial for the visitors in return.
In the long run, it is understandable that free admission to museums has
some advantages. However, if thought further, the advantages of charging
visitors to museums would certainly outweigh the disadvantages. |
