The graph above depicts the amount of average carbon dioxide emissions per person in four countries, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, the gap between four nations slightly reduced compared with 1967 and 2007. Interestingly, the amount of carbon dioxide emission in the united kingdom was the highest among the nations. Even though the number was decreased steadily, still, it was the biggest amount in 2007.
In contrast, the amount of carbon dioxide emission in Portugal was the lowest, around 1 ton, in 1967. It rose continuously to 5 tons which reached the same figure as Sweden in 2007.
The figure of Sweden fluctuated between 5 to 11 over the period. It increased dramatically to 11 which was similar to the United Kingdom in 1977, and it went down later to 5, which was the lowest among them in 2007. The amount of carbon dioxide emission per person in Italy increased steadily without any falling over the period. It ended up at the second highest amount in 2007.
