The table chart represents information on how much waste was
produced in six nations in 1989, 1990 and 2000.
Overall, the amount of waste made in the USA was the highest
among the other countries throughout the period. In addition, a total amount of waste in six
nations showed an upward trend between 1980 and 2000 except for Korea.
In 1980, the USA made the most amount of waste followed by
Japan, Poland, Portugal and Ireland, producing 101 millions of tonnes of waste.
Japan and Poland produced only 28 and 4 millions of tonnes of waste,
respectively. It is notable that there were no data for Korea in the same year.
After 10 years, the figure for the USA increased
significantly by 20 millions of tonnes to 151 millions of tonnes, while the
figure for Portugal went up steadily from 2 to 3 millions of tonnes. It is
noticeable that data for Ireland were not available in 1990.
In the year 2000, the figure for Japan approximately doubled
from 32 to 53 millions of tonnes, while the figure for Korea went down from 31
to 19 millions of tonnes. The amount of waste in Portugal and Poland remained
stable, but the figure for the USA skyrocketed to 192 millions of tonnes by
2000. |
