It is widely believed that children at an early age should be taught what is right and wrong by punishing them. In my perspective, since young children are too vulnerable to be affected by wrong things, it is better to learn how to distinguish right and wrong at their childhood. However, the best way to teach this is not by punishing them but by interacting with them. To begin with, if children at a young age learn the difference between right and wrong, they can build the right values and enhance better moral behaviors. In this way, they can grow into a better person not only in their childhood but also in their adulthood as the saying goes "Old habits die hard". For instance, when a young child was taught that he or she should not throw away trash anywhere on the street since 4 to 5 years old, this young child will he or she would be unlikely to do unethical behaviors naturally. On the other hand, if a young child hasn't (줄임말을 사용하지 말아주세요~!) learned about the right ethical values at an early age, he or she cannot judge what is right and wrong and might have some wrong habits which are not easy to be changed. This shows that how important it is to set the right value to children at their young age. However, any kind of punishments are not essential strategies in order to teach children the right things. This is because punishment might ruin children (youngsters, kids 등으로 대체해가며 적어주세요.) in a bad way. For example, strict rules or physical punishments can make children feel worn out and get stressed out. They might end up going astray or disobeying caregivers. On top of that, during the teaching process, children should not get stressful feelings. Instead of that, it should would be more fun to learn and make children put in practice by themselves. If parents use methods such as playing games to distinguish the right and wrong, their children would be more likely to get involved in their teaching and instructions, resulting in having right attitudes. This implies that any types of punishment will not be useful to teach children the right way. All in all, I truly believe that as early as possible, children should learn how to form the right values by interesting methods. (이에 비해 punishment 는 그 종류에 상관없이 필요하지 않다~~라는 문장을 넣어주세요.) |
