People have different views about the age limitation of applicants which
is applied when they find a job. Some people argue that the age regulation is
reasonable while others assert that it is out of date and should be removed from
the job market. In this essay, I will discuss about the benefits and drawbacks
of the abolishment of age requirement in employment market and suggest my own
view.
It
is true that many countries tend to repeal the regulation about the age requirement
in employment and this movement brings a positive effect on people’s lives by
reducing the financial burdens. The elderly, for instance, could be hired in
working places which was not possible in the past because of their age and it
makes them to earn money to maintain their livelihoods. The youth also can
reduce the time which was consumed to wait until they reach the required age. At
the same time, it is a good chance to companies who suffer from manpower
shortage by employing people regardless their ages.
However,
some occupations should be required the age regulation. This is because certain
jobs are only suitable for experienced workers. For example, some nations
request a minimum age to candidates who want to run for election. If young
people, who became a politician, enact the traffic laws though they do not have
sufficient experiences to deal with whole aspect of it, it causes serious
problems such as an increase of traffic accident rates. Moreover, they also do
not have abundant ability to take responsibility of the results. This leads to the decline of safety for whole members of a society .
In
conclusion, while the abolishment of age limitation in job market enables more
people to work according to their preference, I opine that certain occupation
should be regulated by existence of age qualification to ensure the better life
for the public.
