In recent years, there is a controversial issue regarding
animal experiments. Some people are for them, while others say that they should
be banned for animals. The essay will discuss both opinions, and I will give my
own perspective in the conclusion.
Several people insist that it is necessary for people who
have severe diseases to conduct animal experiments for medical purpose. They
put more of an emphasis on the safety of human rather than animal's rights not
to be used by human beings, pointing out that without them, people may have to
give up the invention of new medical measures which could be significantly
beneficial for human beings in the future. In response to the opposite opinion,
they say that some strict regulations related to animal's physical conditions
would protect animals from excessively suffering from experiments. Thus,
following experiment procedures enforced by the regulations can deal with the
problems of animal experiment that can be raised.
However, many people are against the animal experiments
because human cannot understand how much they would suffer from them. Since
human beings are not able to completely communicate with animals, we cannot
negotiate the standard of experiments. Without any agreement with them, all
animals experiments would infringe on their rights not to be used by others.
Since the experiment is one of the modes of inequality between human beings and
others living the earth, therefore, the animals’ experiments cannot be justified.
In conclusion, although both arguments are reasonable, I
strongly believe that animal experiments should be limited to safeguard
animals' rights not to be utilized by other beings including human.
