A Purpose of learning a foreign language
has always been a subject of debate. Some people think that its purposes are
only a journey or getting a job in another country, while others assert that
there are more reasons in learning a foreign language. Although arguments on
both sides are worth exploring, I think that people who learn another language
can not only use it for work and travel but also meet new opportunities.
On the one hand, those who believe that
people should study another language due to going to travel or getting a job in
another country have valid reasons. Recently, many people want to enjoy a
vacation and work overseas. If they are bilingual, they could achieve
their goal easily rather than others. For instance, many young people go to
academic for learning a foreign language as soon as they graduated. According
to them, they have a plan to go abroad to get a job or have a long vacation in
another country.
On the other hand, I believe that there
are more purposes in learning a foreign language. Nowadays, old people are
learning another language for immigration in spite of more difficult rather
than young people. Moreover, they did retire their job and then they do not
have a plan to get a job in another country. From my experience, I am studying
English, otherwise, I will not be able to get a permanent residence from
Canada. Another significant reason is that many people want to make some
foreign friends through social media. As developed technology of international
connection, people can enjoy meeting with foreigners without any inconvenience,
as if they are in the same country. However, if they cannot speak a common
language, they could not relish it.
To sum up, between two opinions, there
are only two reasons in learning a foreign language or more reasons, I firmly
believe a latter opinion. |
