Nowadays a considerable number of people are not interested in art galleries. Two main reasons for this change are lack of arts education and limited types of art in galleries. It is worrisome, but there are solutions which/that can be adopted to make the situation better.
As arts education has not become becomes not compulsory in schools, many teenagers also become adults with no interest in arts. As they start to go to school and study, they stop going to piano school, ballet school and painting school (여기의 경우 첫 두 school 은 생략하고, 마지막 school 을 복수형으로 적어주시는 게 낫습니다.) they used to go to find their talents and interests. Many other urgent things are on their to do list, and they are busy studying day and night. This shift of focus continues to remain until they become adults if they feel nothing, and do nothing about it.
However, making arts education compulsory might not be the best solution here because it might not last after they grow up. It might be better to allow students to have more free time in the afternoon so that they can do whatever they want instead of studying. In this way, they can have an opportunity to interact with different students with different interests. If they like arts, they can be friends and go to art galleries together. This will be a good starting point because it gives them a positive impression on arts and furthermore on art galleries.
As there are many places to enjoy arts, people do not enjoy arts in art galleries specifically. Even for people who have great interest in arts, art galleries may not be the best option anymore. Their interests and needs for the gallery type of art are fulfilled, and now they rather want something different. If the galleries do not consider this change in their mind and keep exhibiting the same types of art, its result will probably be the same too (dhll님 정도 실력이면 이것보다 더 나은 표현을 쓰실 수 있습니다.).
Getting help from artists can be a solution to limited types of art. Artists can provide the galleries with more types of art. For example, they might make a contract with only one specific gallery and exhibit or sell their newest art crafts there. If this works, it will be possible for galleries to officially invite the popular artists so that their fans can meet them in a gallery in person. This will be good for both the galleries and the visitors.
In conclusion, art galleries lack visitors because people do not much enjoy arts both as education and as leisure. If the galleries can get help from schools and artists, their situation will get better in the short term and more importantly, in the long term. |
