These days many people argue that the
children should be taught about financial matters from their parents in a household.
I suppose that there are several ways to teach about money matters to the kids
in a right way. In this essay I will discuss about these methods according to my
experiences.
First and the foremost, parents should make
their kids to write down their income and expenditure on a notebook. Usually young
children are unable to earn their own money, so the only income may be
allowance from their parents. Therefore, parents should/are recommended to/can give them a little allowance
and watch then how to how they use and mange it. It might be helpful to organize categories
that they usually spend most of their money on, which make the children to be aware of in which categories they have to save money.
Secondly, a large amount of money should
not be given to the (어떤 특정 부류의 아이들을 지칭하는 게 아니므로 the 는 붙지 않습니다. 다른데에도 마찬가지이고요.) children at a time. There can be some occasions that they receive
some pocket money from their grand parents or someone they know. If they get that
money, they may spend all of them on purchasing what they wanted to buy even if it is expensive though it has a high price. If this situation happens frequently, children would are get
used to buy anything they want easily and when they have very little money in
their pocket, it will be not easy .to reduce their consumptions. For example,
in my case, when I received big money from my grandmother I spent all of the
money immediately and I never wrote down about where I spent the money. Afterwards I still suffered Then I
still suffer from lack of money although I had received regular allowance.
Last but not least, people should let their
children know about the financial status of their household. It means that the
kids should be told about their parents’ salaries and expenditures on insurances,
educations, food ingredients and so on. This can make the children set their
own guidelines on their consumptions. I did not know how much exactly my
parents earned per month and where the money was is used until few months ago. When I
heard about the expenditures of my household I was surprised because there were
a lot of things to pay such as variety of insurances. They were much more outgoing
money that I could directly feel like fees for my university. Since my parents
wanted to fully support me in terms of education, they just did not tell me
about those things. In this regard, if parents tell their children about the
incomes and uses of the money of their household, children can aware of their
situation and will try to manage money well.
To sum up, in order to teach the kids about
the money matters appropriately. Parents parents should let them write down their
expenditures in a daily basis, not give them a large amount of money monen at once,
and let them know about financial status of their household in detail. In these
ways, children can get a right insight about managing the money and will have good
habit in terms of finance.
