Whether or not setting a legal working hours has been
always been a heated subject. Personally I believe that this law can be implemented to
protect workers from overworking and to maximize efficiency in the long run.
In such developing countries where many factories require
manual jobs or nations which are notorious for diabolically long work schedule
such as Korea, Japan, and America (1. America 는 가급적이면 United States 라고 적어주시는 게 좋고, 또한 객관적으로 보더라도 저 세 개의 국가는 developing 이 아닌 developed country 로 판단해야 합니다.), a lot of people are under pressure and
stressed out, staying for a long time in the office. It is common to see an employee
who suffer from overwork. This often leads to a serious disease such as diabetes,
migraine, or back bone illness. If the government carries this law out, it will
not only protect labourers’ overall health and dwindle heavy workload but also
give many businessmen a responsibility to take care its staffers. Firm should take
into account that employees are not a working machine but a partner who
genuinely helps them make business successful.
We cannot discount the fact the people work to live,
not live to work. More and more young people want to work for a company which guarantees
work and life balance. A number of studies have proven that working four days a
week shows higher efficiency and production in work, than five days a week. It means
that lengthening duty-on time does not bring large profit. With much time in
the evening, people can spend those hours on self-developing or bonding with their family
or friends. It is naturally estimated that workers are likely to be content with their career, cementing themselves in a position for a long time. With the
passing of time, people will be skilled, contributing to a company’s revenue.
To conclude, two positive perspectives illustrate
why firms should introduce regulating duty hour policy. Workers have the right
to be protected by the law in term of working condition, and companies have the
responsibility to maintain a proper working environment. In addition, with work
and life balance, people can put more time and energy into self-studying so
that they extend their productivity.
