The line graph illustrates that the expenditure of the USA government on 5 different research sectors from the year 1980 to the year 2008. The noticeable feature we can see from the graph is that the government overally used the biggest spending on Health.
To begin with, the spending in health sector sharply surged from about 8 billion $ in 1980 to roughly 18 billion $, which is the highest consumption among the whole 5 sectors. Meanwhile, the expenditure that is used on general science was overally the lowest consumption among the total sectors, which didn’t experience any excesses over 5 billion $ throughout the research period.
As to the other 3 sectors, space, energy, and other, they all fluctuated between 5 billion $ and 10 billion $ over the whole period. Consequently, compared with the beginning of the research period, space experienced an increase up to about 9 billion $ and energy rose by around 7.5 billion $ respectively at the end of the period. Whereas, the sector, other, decreased to 5 billion $ in 2008, which is the same figure with that of general science. |
