Your Answer ▼ Some people believe that homework does more harm than good. They claim that it has little benefit for children and harms the process of learning. However, I firmly believe that children have to do their homework. This is because homework gives many advantages than disadvantages.
On the other hand, homework could limit academic performances because it can turn to a meaningless activity for learning. Although each student has suitable and different way of learning, homework ignores such diversity and forces students to do the formally fixed task. For example, when an elementary student has math homework such as addition and subtraction, he is more likely to copy answers that have were written by other students or use a calculator instead of doing it with his intelligence.
Nevertheless, like what some educational experts say, children have to do their homework because it does more than just helping children to learn the material. This kind of activity also allows children to learn how to manage their time and be responsible for it. For instance, by doing homework, children would try to plan their schedules efficiently in order to prepare for deadlines. Therefore, it is clear that homework gives students many advantages than disadvantages.
To sum up, although it seems that homework could affect less on students to learn or review their academic studies, schools should still need to require students to do homework because it teaches them how to manage their time properly and be responsible for the deadlines other than teaching learning the material.
