Nowadays, more and more students are opting to study at schools or universities in a foreign country. Studying abroad would widen students' vision and offer more chances but there are also some drawbacks.
One evident benefit of attending schools abroad is that there are better opportunities in several aspects. Firstly, children can experience another culture while studying in other countries. Oversea students are exposed to different cultures and customs, therefore, living in a foreign country can widen their horizons. Secondly, people who master their university abroad acquire qualifications that open the doors to better job opportunities. According to a recent statistic, most companies tend to employ workers who are able to speak multilingual languages, and these people are not only more respected but also receive a higher salary than others. These are one of the biggest reasons why scholars decide to study abroad.
However, "Every coin has its two sides". There are obvious disadvantages to studying abroad. One main problem is that the language barrier can cause difficulties. Many international students would fail in their classes or exams because they could not fully understand the lectures. Not only that, students will be confronted with numerous psychological problems. studying alone in an unfamiliar culture often makes them feel lonely and helpless in a new environment. As a consequence, it can lead young people to homesickness or even depression. In fact, there are many cases in which quite a lot of undergraduates give up being educated abroad and return to their home countries.
In conclusion, although it is true that living away from home can be challenging, there are also plus points to having education outside their home countries in terms of understanding other cultures and employment possibilities.
