Your Answer ▼ Some people contend that high schools should conduct unpaid service so that students can volunteer for others, while there are other opinions that say it is not necessary. I strongly agree with the contention that it is mandatory for high schools to project free services as a part of their programmes. It is important to learn helping others when becoming one part of the society. However, there is a limitation for students to learn how to help others practically at school. On the other hand, unpaid community service such as teaching sports to younger children and improving neighbourhood provides pragmatic opportunities of sacrificing for other people to students. It is more likely for the students to feel satisfactions that come from volunteering and be more motivated. For example, I was not interested in helping others because I had not tried volunteering before. However, I had realized how it feels like to give aids to others after I went to take care for disabled children at school (학교가 요구했던 필수 프로그램이라는 점을 언급해주셔야 합니다.) and then I was motivated to keep helping them willingly. Moreover, students can find their own interests by giving aids to people when it comes to teaching service. High schoolers tend not to know what they are good at because they can not find their talents. ('찾을 수 없다' 라고 단언해버릴 경우 뒤에 따르는 내용과 정면으로 충돌하기 때문에 다른 표현으로 바꿔주실 필요가 있습니다.) However, by teaching younger kids particular subjects or activities, the students can discover their potential. For example, my friend did not notice that she was talented in playing the piano before she tried it against orphans as volunteer service for orphans as volunteering. In my opinion, community service producing at high school can give students not only valuable experience of giving aid for people, but also opportunity to recognize their own talents.
