▶ Your Answer :
There have been
conflicting views on whether professional sports players and eminent musicians
can be trained regardless of their innate abilities. In my opinion, those who
achieve great performances in sports and music can be raised with proper environment.
On the one
hand, it is argued that there is a limit beyond which ordinary people cannot
reach, hence only those born with special talents outperform other players. One
example for his argument would be that we can hardly see athletes who defeat
African players in world-class competition. Also, it has been widely accepted
that Asian swimmers due to their comparative physical disadvantages cannot rank
higher position in global swimming competitions.
However, those
who are against this view argue that these skills and talents can be learnt on
the condition that they are provided with proper equipments and organised
training programs. For instance, recently a news story was aired on TV
reporting that vast majority of high performing sports players in Australia are
taught in private schools that have better infrastructure and curricular that
public schools.
Moreover, it is
undeniable that people’s abilities and talents are highly dependent on the
extent to which they are exposed to certain environments. For example,
normally, Australians are well-known for swimming, Americans for baseball and
Europeans for football. This example tells us that certain countries’
excellence in particular sports is associated with its environments, hence by
modifying and improving it, certain characteristics can be developed.
In conclusion,
it is true that there are both opinions about this issue. In my opinion, as
many examples indicate, outperforming figures can be produces with efforts.
