Nowadays, the size of family is becoming smaller and the role for the unit of members altered. Male was the main source of income in the family and women were the supporting role. This responsibility of male has now been shared with their partners, and now women have equal opportunities. All these changes brought the positive development to the society. As regards to the smaller size of family, each family member could benefit from an increase sense of freedom. For example, parents have more free time now than in our previous generation when they had to bear the responsibility of taking care of grandparents and children. With more free time, parents could focus on their work and could continue on further study to improve their career path. As the matter of father and mother’s role, women may benefit from having own career with financial availability. Male also could benefit from this change as they are freed from financial burdens for being the main income source to support the whole family. Not only all these changes have brought the positive aspects to the society, but also have some drawbacks. To start with, people might get depression or feeling lonely of being alone by the reduction of the family size. This aspect could express in wrong ways such as becoming of workaholic or addiction is the one and there is a possibility of people could not control the emotion is another aspects. Lastly, single parents family structure influenced on a decline of population. Due to this preference of becoming single parents, the government increases financial supports for the elders. In conclusion, the most apparent changes in today’s families include a decreased family size and a shared financial and household responsibility of men and women. Such a change is beneficial to the society with the acknowledgement of psychological and economical drawback aspects. |
