Many students take part-time jubs while studying in the universities. Do advantages outweigh disadvantages?
Nowadays, many students pursue to have a part-time job while they
attend the university. Some people argue that working as part-time is a time-consuming activity and should avoid it. However, I believe that the benefits
caused by student’s economic activities outweigh the drawbacks.
It
is true that working as a part-time worker makes students to reduce the time to
study which is essential to get a high score in examination. However, students
who are part-time employees can learn practical skills such as communication
with others or problems solving ability in their workplace and this might be
more advantageous than the high grade when they find a job. This is because
most of company pursuit experienced workers and students who have experiences
as an employee are more suitable for these vacancies. Furthermore, students can discover
their aptitude during the work period that is hard to achieve if they only concentrate
on academic activities. By switching part-time jobs, students can identify the
proper occupation corresponding their preference and this process enables them
to save time consumed in job hunting.
Meanwhile,
part-time employment for university students might drop the stress caused by
financial burdens. The salary received as a result of part-time work can be
spend as enrollment fees of university or living costs. In addition, students can become a self-independent person by working. This is because they do not have
to take pocket money from their parents and learn how to manage their income. Furthermore,
it is a good opportunity to enhance mentality as they experience the reality.
In conclusion,
I opine that the advantages such as a means for job hunting or financial independence provided by economic activities of university students are so huge that it offsets the downsides of it.
