The bar graph illustrates the proportion of renting accommodation and owing accommodation in the UK and Walse from 1918 and 2011.
Overall, it is clear that the percentage of owning accommodation gradually increased over the 83-year period. However, the trend of renting accommodation decreased steadily between 1918 and 2011.
Looking at the bar graph more closely, one can see that of all the households the proportion of renting accommodation reached the highest point of 78 percent in 1918. On the other hand, at the same year, the percentage of households owning had the lowest rate of 23% during the presented whole period. The households in rented in 1939 was nearly 68 percent which was as same as in 1953. Also, in 1971 the proportion of households owning and renting stood same proportion at a half. The percentage of the renting accommodation at 40% was overtaken by owning accommodation at 60% in 1981. Lastly, the rate of owning accommodation in 1991 followed by same group in 2011 at 67% and 64%.
