Nowadays, IT technology supports convenient learning environments, also it is used by means of effective study. In particular, computers have a role of very necessary utilities, even which used to function as a book, homework board, or cyber tutor. It is true that computers have a lot of advantages, but many people are concerning about heavy dependence on computers. For this reason, I agree with those who emphasize the importance of going back to teaching basic study skills.
It is clear that computers provide very convenient circumstances for school student so that they can refer to a various of information through the internet and can take lots of activities regarding to their curriculrm. Meanwhile, teachers post a homework on the classroom internet board, and students submit their homeworks by using e-mail or internet bulletin board. As a result, using a computer helps to save a time, also to be able to overcome the limitation of learning resources.
Even though computers have a lot of advantages, we should not ignore their side effects. Most students use a computer for searching informatioin rather than books, and they prefer to use word processor programs instead of hand writting. Therefore, young students who need more practices for reading and writting can not have enough apportunities to train these kinds of basic skills. In order to solve these drawbacks due to strong dependency on computer, teachers have to focus on learning basic skills, at the same time, they need to prepare other learning activities which students can handle for themselves without computer.
In conclusioin, it is true that computers have developed the educational environment efficiently, at the same time students have gotten up to date learning service. In spite of these advantages, it is important that sutents learn basic study skills such as reading and writting, so teachers should try to avoid the dependency on a computer and to increase more classes focusing on basic studies above described.
