The Great Britain had the dominant thefts
per thousand vehicles as it recorded at about 17 thefts per 1000 vehicles in
1990 and it continued to grow to till reach at 20 thefts per 1000 vehicles by 1992.
This continued to grow despite the drop in 1993, and the number of car thefts
reached at its peak at 20 again by 1996 before it experienced a sharp decrease
in 1999.
Meanwhile, Swedish car thefts recorded at
about 9 thefts per 1000 vehicles, Canadian car thefts of about 7 and French car thefts of close to 5 in
1990. This number reached at same <(??) a year after at about 8 except for Canada
where it recorded at a stable number of car theft numbers. France and Canada showed a the declining
trend until they reached at the same number of about 6 thefts per 1000 vehicles by
1999. Concurrently, Sweden experienced a substantial increase with the car
thefts to reach at its peak of near 15 car thefts per 1000 vehicles.
