It is clear
that increasing children’s obesity is
one of the most serious problems in contemporary society. However, it can be
resolved by noticing the causes and implementing practical solutions.
To
begin with, it is well known that more and more children suffer from obesity
because of two distinct reasons, fast food and lack of exercise. First, many
kids are having their meal with fast foods such as fired fries and burgers
which have less nutrition but more calories. This is not only because there are
a lot of fast food restaurants everywhere even near the schools but also it has
been publicizing on TV very often using a celebrity’s
good image and name, making children think that it is not so harmful to our
body. Also, children tend to attend physical activities less than the past.
Unlike a few years ago, young students are used to playing with smartphones and
computers with enjoying online games rather than attending outdoor activities.
Since they tend to sit for a long time when they use those appliances, they can
easily get fat.
Nevertheless,
while this phenomenon is a critical problem in the society, it can be solved by
operating some strategies. Most of all, the governments should regulate and
oversee the fast food advertisements. Since children can commonly believe the
content of commercials without any critical thinking, it is necessary to
implement regulations regarding the advertisements by the governments. For
instance, they can require the companies to limit using positive images excessively
or they might command them to add a notification at the end of the
advertisements at least one to two seconds. Moreover, schools can offer more
compulsory P.E. classes for improving students’
health. By doing so, children can reduce the risk of being obese and take a
rest from studying.
Overall,
while children’s obesity is obviously a
serious matter in modern society, it can be prevented from expanding by the
efforts in implementing more stringent regulations to the fast food companies
and encouraging students to participate in more physical classes.
