Nowadays, international tourism is the biggest industry in the world. Unfortunately, international tourism creates tension rather than understanding between people from different cultures. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
It is commonly seen that one of the major industry all over the world is international tourism. However, some people argued that the tourists cause some conflict between them and inhabitants who live in host countries. I strongly agree with this opinion as I think that their main concerns are from sight-seeing activities in their areas.
First and foremost, a good number of travelers lead to pressing environmental issues. These days, the investment of tourism industry more and more increasing along with it has become the focus of the local communities. They try to create better tourist destination environments in order to make a huge profit like refurbishment, renovation and new built. Unfortunately, sometimes these excessive actions have a negative impact on nature. This is because, new tourism facilities including accommodations and cultural institutions are constructed with devastating natural heritage, forests or oceans to attract numerous travelers. In addition, most travelers believe that themselves are excluded on the responsibility of environment pollution in the area and then they discard individual rubbish indiscreetly.
Secondly, local traditional cultures may be endangered from some tourists’ behaviours. It is important that pamper not only their own culture but also other countries or regions’ distinctive custom. However, the lack of awareness on importance of tradition and prejudiced view drive to disrespectful to them. For example, a few people show a deliberate act of vandalism like graffiti or commit arson. Due to these selfish actions, a great deal of cultural heritages are damaged even, it would lose local traditions.
In conclusion, there are several reasons such as environment and culture destruction why tourism evoke some conflicts.
