These days, advertising on television has become a powerful makerting tool because people spend a lot of time in watching television at home. This advertising are designed to deliver the potential customers some useful information of products, but sometime it also give people, especially children,
too much information which they don't need to obtain. Therefore looking at some benefits and disadvantages of the effect of advertising is very important.
Advertising influences negatively on children who don't have self-controlness. Since Children normally believe what they see and hear from advertisements, given too much information, they can lose their judgement in seperating true and exaggerated information of products. Moreover, there is a possibility for the youth to reproduce some harmful and unrealistic acts on advertising. For instance, in Korea since some kids kept speaking some adults' words presented in an advertising, the Korean government censored the content of every advertisements on television to protect children.
On the other hand, advertising give people opportunities to see a variety range of products and some useful information in selecting products. In the market there are too many products to choose and there is almost no way to understand the product's feature without being exposed to advertisements. Personally, I sometimes click on advertising banners on the internet just to see if there are any information of a product I am interested in and it really helped me in shopping the product in mall. Moreover, one can feel satisfied and happy with his purchasing watching an fancy advertisement on television when it is about a product he recently bought.
In conclusion, there are certainly both benefits and drawbacks caused by advertisements. Therefore people should wisely make a judgement which information of advertising to be taken. Especially parents should discipline their children to seperate good and unuseful information when being exposed to advertisements. |
