It is suggested that high school students must do voluntary works as which assist their social skills through communication and working in a team. In contrast, it may not learn anything because of no motivation of students. In my view, working with no payment is quite beneficial effects to students as it can provide many valuable skills.
As regards the disadvantages of doing unpaid community service, students do not know about the meaning of voluntary works and also they cannot learn many skills. They just tend to follow some activities because of compulsory activity. Furthermore, teenagers have not motivation about voluntary service. Nowadays, unfortunately, there is a materialistic society so students tend to try hard when it is related to result of subject. This can be seen in South Korea where has voluntary service related to extra credit so it can promote motivation to students easily. Therefore, youngsters do not have any knowledge why they should do a unpaid community service. Thus compulsory programmes can contribute detrimental effects without lesson such as stress.
Most importantly, the greatest merit of doing unpaid community service is that students can improve the quality of standard living. students are given various experience by these acitivities. So it can be helpful in society after graduated because the level of high school students are ready to be an adult. Especially, in the case of improving the neighborhood, which can lead social skills into learning so youngsters are able to learn communication and face to face skills as well. Then, they can acquire friendly relations with their peers after being society members. Moreover, students can know unpaid activities are quite difficult and earning the money is not easy as well. so they can experience it in advance. While students who do unpaid community service have a high adaptability in society, other students may not have a social adaption ability.
To sum up, compulsory programmes are benefical effects to students' future and their qulity of standard living. I wish government should establish a policy for these programmes. |
