The tourism industry plays an important role on nation’s economy. As
a result, many developing countries try to develop their tourism industries
recently. I believe that the development of tourism has a both positive and negative
effect to developing countries.
Firstly,
tourism industry is a good method to boost the entire economy. By constructing
tourism facilities and infrastructures which are compulsory elements in tourism,
developing countries enable to increase the rates of employment. In addition,
the rise of employment rates leads to the growth of income. Meanwhile, bolstering
of tourism industry could be a chance to experience different cultures and lifestyles.
Travelers from various countries might share their cultures with traditional
cultures in developing countries therefore, citizens of developing countries
indirectly experience foreign lifestyles even they have been felt before.
However,
excessive development of tourism has a negative influence on a local community.
One of the disadvantages is the destroy of environment. As foreign capital and
the government build tourism facilities, such as hotels or attractions, natural
area might spoil. For instance, hotels are constructed on the beach or in the
mountain which has a beautiful scenery. This leads to destroy wildlife
habitats. Another drawback of excessive tourism development is that local
communities might lose their own cultural tradition. Many travel agents in
developing countries try to cope with the preference of travelers. As this
behavior is progressed, cultural characteristics of developing countries be
extinct in the future.
In
conclusion, it is that many developing countries regard tourism industry as an
accelerator of economic development. I believe that the development of tourism
has positive effects on developing countries in terms of economic aspect. However,
it also has negative effects on the environment of developing country at the same
time.
