Advertisement is one of the biggest tool to appeal the products to the customers. They try to approach through the most effective way and I believe the most easiest method is to placing an ad through the television.
Radio is one of the popular broadcasting system people often use. It benefits us by freeing our hands so we can listen while driving or cooking. By listening, the narration will provoke our imagination and increase our expectation toward the product. On the contrary, not having a visual tool, it can distract us from concentrating and also there is a higher chance of turning the channel to search for another interesting program.
Newspaper could be a tool which could cover the drawbacks of the radio. It provides a visual material and it is not time-dependent like radio and television advertisements. People can read and look as long as they want and get deeper information about the product. However, same as radio, we cannot force everybody to read the advertisement. Some will ignore the pages full of useless information.
Lastly, television has a benefit of exposing the commercial to many people in short time. Short 30 second commercials are shown between our favorite programs which many don't bother changing the channel and they are repetitive that some can actually memorize the lines. It uses the visual effect to illustrate the merits of the product to make people believe and to lead to purchase. However, unlike newspapers, it must be shown within a limited time which only can provide shallow information.
In conclusion, I personally believe television is the best place to locate an advertisement even it has a drawback of a short time limit.
