▶ Your Answer :
There are various opinions concerning that these days young students should focus on learning foreign language more than other traditional subjects. This essay will outline both views about this educational policy.
On the one hand, some insist that in modern society young students have to be thought to use one or more foreign languages because the world has become globalized ever than before. This means that there are more chances to meet or work with people from other countries. For example, today because of development of the internet and computer, most of workers communicate with people working at the opposite side of the world through the e-mail with many foreign languages. Therefore, schools should make their young students prepare this globalized environment from their young age.
On the other hand, when it comes to the radical purpose of school, it is very essential to teach traditional subjects, such as mathematics and science. As a matter of fact, as society has developed, the amount of what students have to study also has increased. This means that nowadays students have to focus on traditional subjects more than before. Moreover, even in traditional curriculum students attend foreign language classes, which have enough time to learn. If they want to learn more they can study it out of class. Therefore, schools do not have to invest more time in teaching foreign languages than other subjects.
In conclusion, to make students prepare the globalized world, teaching foreign languages is important than the past. However, I believe that schools do not have to focus on those language classes more because the purpose of school is teaching academic skills like mathematics and science. |
