It is more than true that taking a part in voluntary activities, (comma) such as helping poor people or teaching young children must be considered as a very valuable thing to do. So, some people insist that high school students are to be taught this as a mandatory school program at school. However, I do not agree with this opinion for below reasons.
Without doubt, there are some of positive aspects that we can expect from these programmes practiced at school. Students would learn how to help others in person, not from a book and would have better understandings on true value of society and community where they belong to. In addition, they can feel sense of belongings to the community and learn how to be a good member of society through voluntary works.
However, in my opinion, notwithstanding all these positive values, it would be meaningless if they are forced to do so. The priority of this voluntary program at high school is not an academy achievement, but encouraging students to be a good member of society who willingly help others and contribute to community. Accordingly, if they are forced to attend a compulsory program at school, the true value of these good behaviours would be lost and the voluntary programmes would be nothing but grudging and bothering works.
In conclusion, it is good things beneficial (good thing/bad things와 같은 애매한 표현은 감점의 요인이 됩니다) for students to participate in voluntary activities at school, however, <-(no comma here/ , however) they should be inspired or advised to do so with their free will, not be forced against their will.
