The idea of which subject student should study
in university has always been a subject of debate. Some people argue that student
better study useful subjects which can help in their future while others feel
that students can learn about whatever they want in university. Although arguments
on both sides are worth exploring, I think that students better learn many things
what they want in undergraduate school.
On the one hand, those who believe students
only be allowed to study valuable subjects in school have valid reasons. To be
specific, nowadays there are more opportunities of jobs in science and
technology fields rather than other fields such as management or accounting. Moreover,
these kinds of jobs have better salary and vision of future career for the long
term. To illustrates, my older brother, working as technology engineer, always satisfied
with his job because he can be more professional in that field and there have various
things available to learn for him to be far knowledgeable. Consequently, with these
reasons, some people push undergraduates to study only helpful subjects as they
want students to be a successful person in the future.
On the other hand, there are those who feel
students should learn whatever they want. It is commonly observed that,
students may try to experience many kinds of subjects and then they will able
to decide what they would like to be after their graduation. This is because,
not enough time was given to them to learn various things outside except just
studying at school when they were high school students. This clearly shows that
students can be full of experiences, studying whatever they like, it can help
them to easily choose major subject what they want to be.
In conclusion, both types of what subject students
should study in university offer a variety to students. Given this situation, I
firmly believe that learning whatever they like will be helpful for students to
decide their future jobs. |
